RAB arrests 3 with 37-kg touchstone from Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has seized a 37-kg touchstone idol (Mother-Child Sculpture) worth about Taka 1.50 crore and arrested three assumed smugglers from Katabari village in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district. 
 
The arrested were identified as Mizanur Rahman alias Shuja, 35, son of late Khalilur Rahman, Golam Firoz Liton, 30, son of AH Quddus, both of Katabari village under Gobindaganj upazila and Shibu Sarkar, 30, son of Anil Chandra Sarkar of Laksmanpur Baraisalpara village under Saidpur upazila of Nilphamari district.

On a tip-off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Company-1 of RAB-13's Dinajpur camp raided a house in the village and seized the touchstone and arrested the three persons at 7:10 pm on Wednesday, a press release said here today.
 
The elite force handed over the arrested persons along with the seized touchstone to Gobindaganj Police Station," the release added.
