DMP bans rallies around Secretariat, Jamuna

DHAKA, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on holding any kind of rallies and gatherings at Bangladesh Secretariat, the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna and their surrounding areas from Sunday.
 
DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali in a public order imposed the restriction in pursuance of the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) in the interest of maintaining public order and the security of the Chief Adviser.
 
According to the order, any kind of meeting, assembly, mass gathering, procession, human chain, sit-in, etc. has been banned from Sunday (September 7, 2025) until further orders in the Bangladesh Secretariat (including adjacent areas) and the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna and the surrounding areas (the area between Hotel InterContinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers Club Crossing and Mintu Road Crossing).
