8 AL men held for bringing out sudden procession in city

DHAKA, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested eight leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its associate organizations from different parts of the capital city on Wednesday on charges of making attempt to destabilize the country by bringing out sudden processions in the capital's Dhanmondi area. 

The arrested have been identified as Md. Sajibul Islam Hridoy (23), Abdullah Bin Aziz (23), vice-president of Ward No. 39 Chhatra League of Wari Police Station, Md. Raihan alias Pauline (28), active activist of the Swechachhasebak League of Lalbagh Police Station, Md. Shahadat Nabi Khoka (42), AL Central Sub-Committee Member for Relief and Social Welfare, Md. Aminur Rahman Manik (30), Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Ward 13 Volunteer League Joint General Secretary, Md. Jamil Hossain Palash (58), Kalabagan Police Station Ward 16 Awami League President, Md. Golam Mostafa (50), Shariatpur Sadar Police Station Awami League Secretary and Karar Shahriar Ahmed (41), Nikli Police Station Former President and Chairman of Chhatra League.

Separate teams of DB arrested the nine from Dhanmondi , Wari , Lalbagh Paltan, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Keraniganj and Uttara areas on Wednesday. 
 
Cases have been registered against the arrestees with various police stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on specific charges. 

Deputy Commissioner of DMP Muhammad Telebur Rahman confirmed their arrests. 

The detainees were involved in organizing and destabilizing the country by holding sudden processions in different parts of the capital, he confirmed.
