DHAKA, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a trader for producing adulterated cosmetics from the Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka.

The arrestee has been identified as Md. Tariqul Islam alias Nayan (33).

He was arrested from Bora Katara in Chawkbazar area on Thursday.

A CID press release signed by Special Superintendent of Police (Media), CID, Dhaka, Jasim Uddin Khan confirmed the arrest.

Multiple cases have been filed against him under the Special Powers Act of 1974.

The investigation revealed that the accused had been engaged in producing and marketing banned and adulterated cosmetics for a long time.

Due to the use of these adulterated products, common people are at risk of suffering from various fatal diseases, including cancer, the release said.

Others involved in the production and marketing of adulterated and harmful products will also be identified through the legal process and appropriate action will be taken against them, it added.
