Nine arrested in Gulshan restaurant drug case sent to jail

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS)-A court here today sent nine people, including their ring leader, to jail in connection with selling drugs at a restaurant in the capital's Gulshan area.

The accused are Selim Prodhan (ring leader), Md Rakibul Islam Rafi (25), Sumon (39), Md Tawfiqul Islam (25), Md Rifat Hassan (25), Md Rabiul Hassan (25), Minhazur Rahman Tahjib (21), Md Mehedi Hassan (26) and Md Saimum Islam (25). 

Police produced the accused before the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) and requested their detention until the completion of the investigation. 

Metropolitan Magistrate Minazur Rahman, after hearing the prosecution, ordered them to be sent to jail.

Earlier, a team of Gulshan Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the Nexus Caf‚ Glass Restaurant in Baridhara Diplomatic Zone and arrested the nine people. The accused were reportedly selling drugs (lead) under the guise of a restaurant business.

Police seized a large quantity of drugs (lead) from the restaurant and filed a case with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
