Selim Pradhan, 8 others held for operating unauthorized lead bar in Gulshan

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Gulshan Police have arrested nine people, including Selim Pradhan from the capital's Baridhara area on charges of operating an unauthorized lead bar in Gulshan.

The remaining other arrestees are : Md. Rakibul Islam Rafi (25), Md. Sadiqul Islam Sumon (39), Md. Taufiqul Islam (25), Md. Rifat Hasan (25), Md. Rabiul Hasan (25), Minhazur Rahman Tajbir (21), Md. Mehedi Hasan (26) and Md. Saimum Islam (25).

Police arrested them after conducting a raid in the city’s Baridhara area under Gulshan police station around 3:00 pm today, said a police press release.

At that time, 6,700 kg of lead, 2 kg of Anirban Coconut Caracol, seven lead stands, three empty cans of different brands, five lead stand pipes and Tk 48,700 in cash were seized from their possessions. 

A case under the Narcotics Control Act has been registered against the arrestees with Gulshan police station.

According to police, the arrested are active members of an unauthorized lead bar trading gang. 

They confessed during initial interrogation to being involved in the unauthorized lead bar business, the release added.
