DHAKA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent former secretary Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan to jail hours after his arrest in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act on charges of conspiring to dislodge the Interim Government.
The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court sent him to jail upon a petition filed by investigating officer (IO) of the case, SI Toufiq Hasan of Shahbagh Police Station.
Police produced Shahid Khan before the court seeking his detention in jail until the investigation into the case is completed.
Earlier around 2.30am today, the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested former secretary Shahid Khan from the capital's Eskaton area.
According to the case details, Abdul Latif Siddiqui was giving a speech at a round table meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity under the banner of 'Manch 71', inciting others to destabilize the country and overthrow the government through armed struggle.
For his conspiratorial speech, the people present surrounded him and started shouting slogans like 'Awami Fascist'.
A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station on August 29 against Abdul Latif Siddiqui, 16 named people and 70/80 unknown people for conspiring and inciting others to destabilize the country and overthrow the current interim government.
