KHULNA, Sept, 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an on-site investigation into allegations of irregularities and negligence in the widening and development project of the Khulna Development Authority’s (KDA) Shipyard Road, which has remained incomplete for a long time.

An ACC team led by Khulna’s Deputy Director Md. Abdul Wadud visited the site this afternoon.

Different civic organizations and locals complained that the road has been left half-finished for years, causing severe suffering to commuters and traders. They alleged that the contractor, Mahbub Brothers, withdrew Tk 70 crore without completing the project.

ACC Deputy Director Abdul Wadud said the allegations suggest that the contractor misappropriated funds by failing to complete the project on time.

He added that the ACC is also investigating whether the part of the work that was completed maintained proper standards.

Earlier, the enforcement team visited the KDA office to collect project-related documents, contractor payment receipts, and other relevant papers.

At the site, a technical team inspected the quality of materials, the progress of work, and overall construction standards.
