DU VC thanks all for successful DUCSU election

DHAKA, September 11, 2025 (BSS)- Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan today expressed gratitude to students, candidates, media professionals, law enforcement agencies and all stakeholders for their role in successfully conducting the DUCSU and hall union elections.

“The DUCSU election was a long-standing demand of the students, and the administration organized it with the cooperation of all concerned to honour the demands of the student, and as an opportunity to show respect to the student-people mass movement and spirit of the movement,” the VC said in a press statement.

He thanked journalists for their active coverage and expressed deep sorrow over the death of journalist Tariqul Islam Shibli while on duty.

Prof. Niaz appreciated the students for their peaceful participation and expressed hope that elected representatives would work for the university’s development. 

“The DUCSU election was not just an event- it was a collective step toward strengthening democratic practice within the university,” he noted.

He also praised the tireless efforts of the Election Commission, faculty, and staff, mentioning the instances of their extraordinary dedication to accomplish the task.
He also thanked observer groups, guardians, and various forums for supporting the process and emphasized the role of law enforcement in ensuring safety.

The VC commended both winning and losing candidates for showing unity and tolerance despite political differences. 

“Despite diverse views, our students showed that unity and tolerance can prevail when love for the institution and the country come first,” he added.

Prof. Niaz concluded by reaffirming the university’s commitment to democratic values and inclusive development, saying DUCSU will play a key role in shaping the future of the university and the nation.
