CHATTOGRAM, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the importance of equal participation of people from all religions for creating a Bangladesh that values equality.

The mayor said that after assuming the office of Chattogram City Corporation, he has worked as a public servant, prioritizing the security of individuals of all faiths.

He said the country’s progress will have to be ensured by including communities of all religions without leaving anyone behind.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a grand procession and discussion meeting held to commemorate the 138th birth anniversary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra at the city’s Dewanjipukur area this morning.

He said, “We have been struggling for democracy for the last 17 years. Fascist Sheikh Hasina had tried to establish a one-party rule by torturing and discriminating against everyone. Despite the fall of Sheikh Hasina, the struggle is still ongoing. We will stay on the streets until we regain democracy and voting rights.”

Terming the upcoming national elections as very important, the mayor said various conspiracies are ongoing about the upcoming national elections.

“A group is trying to delay the elections and push the country towards uncertainty. Sanatanis must stand by BNP in the national elections. Because if BNP comes to power, all the rights of Sanatanis will be ensured,” he added.

Anil Chandra Pal, President of Chattogram District Sathsanga Center, chaired the event while Abul Hashem Bakkar, former General Secretary of city BNP, was the main speaker at the event.

Soumitra Majumder Palash, Joint General Secretary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Sathsanga Hemayetpur Pabna, Professor Dr. Ajay Dev,  Dean of Chattogram Medical University and Rajiv Dhar Tamal, Organizing Secretary of Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front, among others, spoke at the function.
