DHAKA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – AB Party secretary general Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad today said 78 percent voter turnout in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections has proved that a free, fair and inclusive national election is possible even without the Awami League and Jatiya Party.

“The 10 votes received by Shibir supported VP candidate Sadik Kayem at Jagannath Hall clearly shows that Shibir did not win with Awami League’s support. Instead, candidates from panels backed by Chhatra Dal and left-leaning student groups secured more votes. Therefore, it is wrong to frame this election as a victory for Islamists or fundamentalists,” he told a press conference at Barishal District Press Club.

He also said, “No” votes went to the Shibir-supported panel because students disliked certain candidates. “Students did not cast their votes based on ideology, but rather on who could keep the campus stable and free from tagging politics. This makes the DUCSU polls a lesson for future national elections. Compared to the past, this DUCSU election was the best so far,” Fuad added.

At the press conference, Barrister Fuad also highlighted AB Party’s contributions to the construction of the Mirganj Bridge in Muladi and Babuganj, as well as the ongoing renovation of more than 100 roads and schools in the area.

AB Party Barishal City Convener GM Rabbi, joint convener Sujon Talukder, joint member secretaries Tanvir Ahmed and Rayhan Uddin, central assistant publicity secretary Ripon Mahmud, member Nazmul Khan, Shohan along with other local leaders and journalists were present on the occasion.
