19 AL men arrested in Dhaka for disrupting law, order

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 19 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from various parts of the capital on Friday for allegedly disrupting law and order by organizing sudden flash processions.

Among those detained are seven key figures: Roman Ahmed (32), member of the AL's Agriculture and Cooperatives Central Sub-Committee, Sanjeeb Islam Afendi (35), former Science and Technology Affairs Secretary of the AL's Information and Research Sub-Committee, Nabed Ahmed Naba (25), member of Bajitpur Upazila Chhatra League in Kishoreganj district, Md. Mizanur Rahman, leader of Itna Police Station in Kishoreganj district, Zakir Hossain (55), Relief and Social Welfare Secretary of the AL Central Sub-Committee, Md. Jasim Uddin (40), Health Affairs Secretary of Tejgaon Thana Jubo League Ward No. 26 and Md. Sanakat (38), Organizing Secretary of Awami League Ward No. 33 in Bangshal Thana.

The Detective Branch apprehended these seven from the Banglamotor and Gulshan areas of Dhaka. 

In addition, Ramna and Gulshan police arrested 12 more AL members and affiliates during preparations for sudden processions in those areas. The additional arrestees include Md. Main Uddin (36), Billal Hossain (38), Md. Rabbi (21), Md. Sohel Hasan Rafi (21), Arif (23), Nadim (19), Md. Shukkur Howlader (25), Shihab Munshi (25), Md. Jewel (30), Saddam Molla (27), Md. Rana (19), and Md. Nazmul (19).

Police sources confirmed that all those detained were active members of the Awami League and its allied organizations and were involved in organizing flash processions aimed at destabilizing the city's law and order.
