Three robbers arrested, vehicles recovered in city

DHAKA, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested three active members of a gang of robbers impersonating DB (Detective Branch) personnel and recovered a truck, a private car, and a motorcycle from their possession in the city.

The arrestees are Monowar Hossain Sakal alias Babu, 34, Md Titu Mia, 32, and Md Mithu Mia, 48, according to a media release issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

A team of Jatrabari Police Station conducted a series of raids in the capital’s Mirpur and Babubazar areas and in Haimchar of Chandpur district yesterday and arrested them, the release said.

It added that during the operation, police also recovered a truck, a private car, a motorcycle, and 297 packets of art paper from their possession.
According to Jatrabari police sources, Md Selim Molla filed a robbery case with Jatrabari Police Station on September 10, 2025.

As per the case details, on August 29, 2025, Nur Alam rented a truck from Konapara AR Printers under Jatrabari Police Station to transport art paper from Nayabazar under Kotwali Police Station.
At around 1:50 am on August 30, four unidentified persons on two motorcycles introduced themselves as DB police, stopped the truck loaded with art paper, and asked to check the consignment.

The robbers also snatched the mobile phones of drivers Rahat and Mosharraf, claimed the documents were fake, while four workers managed to flee the scene.

They threatened driver Rahat with an electric shock machine and forced him to drive the truck towards Demra. When the truck reached Mridhabari U-turn area, the robbers fled with it, the case statement said.
Later, police investigated the case and identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage and other intelligence information.

Yesterday morning (September 13), a raid was conducted in Mirpur at 9:00 am, and Monowar Hossain Sakal alias Babu was arrested.

Based on Babu’s information, police conducted another raid in Haimchar of Chandpur district at 2:05 pm the same day and arrested Md Titu Mia.
Acting on Titu Mia’s information, police arrested Md Mithu Mia from Babubazar area at 9:30 pm the same day.

Police said the arrested are active members of a professional and violent robbery gang.

Legal action is being taken against them.
