DHAKA, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) -The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved filing of cases against 31 people of 13 recruiting agencies on charges of amassing over TK 1159 crore.

Among the agencies, one is owned by Shahadat Hossain Selim, former president of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) .

The preparation of filing the case is at final stage, which will soon be lodged formally, Director (prevention) of the ACC told a media briefing.

In the allegations, the ACC said the chairmen, managing directors and directors of the recruiting agencies amassed the money by creating a syndicate while they were office bearers of the HAAB.

They have realized money five times higher than the government fixed TK 78,990 from the Bangladeshi expatriates, it also alleged.

They have committed irregularities at different level of sending manpower to Malaysia by misusing their power.

They have collected additional amount of money from the labourers for passports, health examinations and other fees by breaching the agreements.

And thus they amassed the huge amount of money illegally in connivance with each other.

The ACC earlier filed cases against 12 recruiting agencies including those of former finance minister AHM Mustufa Kamal and his family members, former lawmakers Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury and retired Nizam Uddin Hazari and Benjir Ahmed.
