DHAKA, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court today sent actor Siddiqur Rahman to jail after ending his three-day remand in the furniture shop employee Parvez Bepari murder case filed with Gulshan Thana.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order yesterday, allowing the plea of the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) Moktar Hossain, General Recording Officer (GRO) of Gulshan Thana, confirmed today.

Earlier, actor Siddiqur was produced before the court after completing his three-day remand in the Parvez murder case.

Sub-Inspector Samiul Islam of Gulshan Thana, also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, told the court that accused Siddiqur Rahman provided some important information regarding the murder during interrogation. The IO requested the court to confine him in jail, saying he needs time to verify the information and the addresses of other accused.

Earlier, the same court on September 3 granted a three-day remand to Siddiqur Rahman for interrogation in connection with the case.

On April 29, a group of people detained Siddiqur Rahman in the capital's Baily Road area and handed him over to Ramna Thana. Later, Ramna Thana sent him to Gulshan Thana, showing him as arrested in the Parvez murder case.

Parvez Bepari, 23, an employee of a furniture shop, was shot in front of Subastu Tower during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19 last year. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where attending doctors declared him dead.

Md Sabuj, father of the victim, later filed a case with Gulshan Thana, where actor Siddiqur Rahman was mentioned as accused number 223.
