Four held with arms, drugs in Munshiganj, Chandpur

MUNSHIGANJ, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - Members of law enforcement agencies in separate drives arrested four people in Munshiganj and Chandpur districts for possessing illegal firearms and narcotics.

The arrestees are Tamjid Bepari ,24, son of Shahidullah Bepari, Selim Matbar ,20, son of Zakir Matbar, Mahbub Hasan ,29, son of Siddiq Matbar. They are resident of Muktarpur area of Munshiganj sadar upazila while Abul Kalam ,41, son of Abul Hossain of Jamalpur village in Gazaria upazila of the same district. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police conducted special drive in various areas of Muktarpur under Sadar upazila on Monday night. During the operation, Tamjid Bepari, Selim Matbar, and Mahbub Hasan were arrested with illegal foreign liquor.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Saiful Alam confirmed that cases have been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) arrested Abul Kalam, member of the notorious Noyon-Piyas gang, with illegal firearms and foreign currencies from Mollakandi village in Matlab Uttar upazila of Chandpur district. 
 
According to a press release issued by RAB-11, Abul Kalam is accused in at least 30 cases filed with various police stations, including charges of murder, extortion, drug trafficking, and an attack on the Guagachhia police camp.
