DHAKA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Prisons has declared September 2025 as the month of anti-drug campaign to create awareness among the people against drug abuse.

To pursue the government announced “zero tolerance” policy against drug abuse, the department launched the anti-drug campaign, said a press release.

It said drug addiction is increasing at an alarming rate in Bangladesh. The country's prisons are also not freed from this harmful effect. In this context, the Prisons Department has taken special activities to stop drug abuse in coordination with the concerned district administration and the Department of Narcotics Control.

Special searches are being conducted on visitors, prisoners and officials and employees coming to the prison.

At the same time, regular programs are being conducted to increase anti-drug awareness.

The Prisons Department has taken the initiative to conduct dope tests on suspected prisoners or employees through its own dope tests.

In order to identify potential drug addicts and bring them under greater surveillance and administrative control, a plan is also on.

It said the prison authorities have been working relentlessly to correct the criminals to bring them to normal life.
