KHAGRACHARI, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - A student of Khulna University (KU) was 
killed and 11 others injured when a tourist jeep, locally known as a Chander 
Gari, plunged into a roadside ditch on the way to Sajek Valley in Rangamati 
district today 

The deceased was identified as Rinky , a student of the 21st batch in the 
Physics Department of Khulna University.

The accident occurred in the Shijok Chhara-Housepara area of Sajek this 
afternoon when the jeep carrying 12 students lost control and fell into a 
ravine. Rinky died on the spot while the injured were rushed to Khagrachhari 
General Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kanan 
Sarkar said army personnel, police, and locals carried out a joint rescue 
operation. 

Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Marzan said the injured are 
being shifted to Khagrachhari for better treatment.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Iqbal 
Hossain confirmed the matter.
