17 Jubo League, Chhatra League activists held in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS) - At least 17 leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League and Jubo League (activities banned) were arrested during and after processions in different areas of the city last night.

Abdul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, said Karnaphuli Upazila Jubo League Joint General Secretary Sikandar Hossain (39) was arrested from the Jamalkhan area on Thursday.

"He was produced before the court on Friday in connection with a case related to an attack on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. During the court appearance, Jubo League workers gathered and attempted to stage a procession by raising slogans in the court premises. As a result, a total of seven individuals were arrested during the attempted procession," he added.

The arrestees are Taher Majhi, Sunny, Hossain, Faisal, Parvez, Mamun, and Zia - all residents of the Shikalbaha area in Karnaphuli upazila.

After an investigation, action is being taken against them, Karim said.

Meanwhile, Double Mooring Police Station detained 10 activists of the Jubo League and Chhatra League for staging a procession in the Jharnapara area of the city.

Babul Azad, OC of Double Mooring Police Station, said activists of the banned organization Chhatra League gathered inside Jharnapara Goli and brought out a procession at 11 pm last night. Subsequently, the police arrested 10 individuals based on their involvement, as seen in video footage, he added.
