CHATTOGRAM, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) elections will be conducted using an OMR system, with ballot papers featuring candidates' names and numbers.
Professor Dr. Monir Uddin, Chief Election Commissioner for the CUCSU, Hall, and Hostel Parliament elections, told BSS in an exclusive interview today around 11 am that the elections are being held after 36 years and transparency and fairness will be ensured through the OMR system.
He added that the ballot format is similar to those used in admission tests and other competitive examinations.
The ballot papers for the CUCSU, Hall, and Hostel Parliament elections will have five pages in total. One page will be allocated for the Hall and Hostel Parliament elections, while the remaining four pages will cover the Central Parliament elections.
Each page will display the candidate's name, surname, ballot number, and an empty circle for voters to mark their choice.
A total of 415 candidates are contesting 26 positions in the CUCSU elections. In addition, 493 candidates are running for 14 hall assembly and 10 hostel assembly seats.
The total number of eligible voters is 27,516. Voting will take place on October 15 (Wednesday) from 9 am to 4 pm, with vote counting beginning immediately afterward in the returning officer's room.
