Banned BCL leader Miraj held under Anti-Terrorism Act

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of police has arrested a leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from the capital's Kereniganj area in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The detainee was identified as Patuakhali District Chhatra League leader Md. Miraj Khan (28).

He was arrested in a raid at Keraniganj area around 10:30pm on Saturday, said a police press release.

 Miraj participated in a procession of BCL held in front of Inquilab Bhaban in Motijheel on September 15, 2025 and he also shared a video reel of the procession on his Facebook ID.

 Then, on September 24, 2025, he prepared for the procession by gathering a large crowd in Farmgate area to create instability and sabotage in Dhaka metropolis.

In addition, on October 10, 2025, Miraj again participated in a procession of Awami League and its affiliated organizations in Dhanmondi 27 area and shared the video reel of this procession on his Facebook ID. 

Miraj had been playing an important role as an organizer in gathering people in various processions of the banned BCL, police said.

A case has been filed against Miraj under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Tejgaon Police Station.
