NATORE, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Ten egrets and dove trapped by local bird hunters were rescued and released back into the open sky of Chalan Beel in Natore.

Members of the Chalan Beel Biodiversity Conservation Committee rescued the birds from bird-hunting traps in three different areas of Singra upazila this morning.

In a drive conducted early this morning, environmental activists rescued six egrets from the traps set up in Bildahar and Kalinagar fields and four doves from the current net traps in Barihati Beel.

Saiful Islam, General Secretary of the Chalan Beel Biodiversity Committee, said that a bond has been taken from the two accused bird hunters to prevent them from hunting birds in the future.

At the same time, the trap and current nets used for bird-hunting were destroyed.
