AL's corruption led to shutdown fertilizer factories- Moyeen Khan

Narsingdi, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan has said massive corruption and plundering by the previous Awami League government led to the closure of two functional fertilizer factories in Narsingdi, merging them into one.

“They looted thousands of crores of taka in the name of building a new fertilizer factory. Due to corruption, they launched a new project by demolishing two operational fertilizer plants,” he alleged.

He made the remarks while addressing workers at a gathering organized by the Ghorashal-Palash Fertilizer PLC Employees’ Union in Palash, Narsingdi today.

Dr. Moyeen Khan further said that people were deceived during the inauguration of the Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer Project. 

“Before commissioning of the factory they showed it operational bringing fertilizer from other factories,” he said.
 
Emphasizing the need to build a truly productive economy, Dr. Moyeen Khan said, Bangladesh cannot progress without eradicating corruption. 

“Inequality still existing in the society despite thousands of students and people sacrificed their lives to eliminate the disparity, he added.

If the BNP is voted to power through a free and fair election, it will work to remove inequality and ensure the legitimate rights of the people, he said.

 Al-Amin Bhuiyan, President of the Ghorashal-Palash Regional Workers’ Association presided over the programme. 

Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar, General Secretary Saiful Haque, Joint Secretary Bahah Uddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Municipality BNP President Alam Molla, Narsingdi Bus-Truck Owners Association President Sarwar Mridha, and General Secretary of Ghorashal Power Workers’ Union Shariful Islam also spoke on the occasion.
