One suspect held linked to New Market City Complex theft

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested one person for his suspected involvement in the daring theft in New Market City Complex or Biswas Builders Market in the capital.
 
The arrested person has been identified as Md. Alim Howlader (36).
 
Police arrested Alim from Purba Balaya Bunia village under Bamna Police Station in Barguna district early Saturday with the help of technology and analysis of CCTV footage of the scene, said a police press release

Police seized Tk 1.40 lakh in cash and a cut-off saw used in the theft from his possessions.
 
New Market Thana Police said they have identified all the accused involved in the theft during the investigation of the case.
 
Earlier on the night of October 4, unknown thieves broke the lock on the fourth and ground floors of New Market City Complex and stole Tk 20,99,452, said a police press release.
 
A trader of the market Md. Manik filed a theft case with New Market Police Station in connection with the incident.
 
The arrested Alim admitted his link to the theft during the initial interrogation.
