CHATTOGRAM, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) – The authorities have decided to use a modern Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) machine to count ballots for the Chattogram University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) elections, including the Hall Council votes.

AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui, member secretary of the election management committee, announced this afternoon that the CUCSU elections will be conducted using the OMR system. Voters will fill in circles on the ballots to cast their votes, allowing for the quick publication of results. Additionally, the counting process will be displayed on a giant screen to ensure transparency.

Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Monir Uddin informed BSS that the election will end at 4:00 pm. Afterwards, the ballot boxes will be taken to the auditorium and sorted into 100 bundles according to color. Each bundle will then be fed into the OMR machine for counting.

He mentioned that a team of experts will oversee the entire process. The counting for each hall will be conducted in three stages. The result compilation and verification for all 15 halls are expected to take a maximum of 10 to 12 hours.

Professor Monir Uddin confirmed that all necessary preparations have been finalized and expressed optimism that the election will be held peacefully and successfully on October 15.
