Bangladesh shines at Int'l Climate Olympiad in Russia

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh achieved outstanding success in its 
first-ever participation at the International Olympiad on Climate Change and 
Environmental Issues (IOCE) 2025, held in the Sirius Federal Territory in 
Russia. 

The Bangladeshi team won the Outstanding Presentation Award, while Taseen 
Mohammad secured an Individual Gold Medal, marking a proud moment for the 
nation in an international scientific competition focused on global 
environmental challenges, said a press release issued by the Russian Embassy 
here today. 

Organised annually, IOCE brings together young scientific minds from across 
the world to foster innovation and collaboration in addressing pressing 
environmental and climate issues.
 
This year's event held in last month featured 39 participants from 11 
countries, reflecting a growing global commitment to climate awareness and 
sustainability.

The Olympiad serves as an international platform to develop the creative and 
scientific potential of youth and to promote cooperation in environmental 
protection and sustainable development.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Dhaka congratulated the Bangladeshi 
participants for their exceptional performance, noting that their achievement 
underscored the growing strength of Bangladesh's young generation in science, 
research, and climate advocacy.

Bangladesh's participation in IOCE 2025 highlights the country's increasing 
engagement in global scientific initiatives and its dedication to nurturing 
future leaders in environmental innovation and sustainability.
