CHT affairs ministry first secretary Golam Rahman passes away

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - The first secretary to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Kazi Golam Rahman died of old age complications at his Gulshan residence here today.

He was 83.

Kazi Golam Rahman, an officer of the then Police Service of Pakistan (PSP),   joined the government service in 1967. During his long career, he served in many capacities including Director General of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), Additional Inspector General of police of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police and Chairman of the Power Development Board.

He was appointed as the first secretary of the CHT affairs ministry in 1998.

Sabita Rahman, daughter of the deceased, said that the first Namaz-e-Janaza of Kazi Golam Rahman was held at Rajarbagh Police Lines Mosque after Magrib prayer.

His body will be kept at his Gulshan residence till 5am tomorrow and later would be buried at their family graveyard at Chhagalnaiya upazila in Feni after Zahr prayer tomorrow, said Sabita Rahman.
