EC appoints authority to revise draft voter list

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has appointed a revising authority to dispose of the petitions about claim, objection and correction in the draft voter list ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.

A notification to this end, signed by deputy secretary of EC Secretariat, Md Rafiqul Islam was issued today.  

It mentioned that the designation of the officer appointed as revising authority in 64 districts and cantonment areas and the area or jurisdiction designated for the correction authority in the notification. 

The notification said based on information collected in the voter list update process, the EC has appointed the revising authority to resolve the claims, objections and applications regarding corrections submitted in the prescribed form in the draft voter list in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 (h) of the Voter List Act, 2009.

The appointment was given with a view to publishing the final voter list on November 18, 2025.

After the publication of the draft voter list, the deadline for applications to the revising authority for inclusion of the names of eligible persons or deletion of the names of ineligible persons, transfer of voters and correction or removal of any errors or omissions in it is November 16.

 According to the latest information, the total number of voters in the country is 12,63,07,504. Of them, 64,100,455 are male voters, 6,22,05,819 are female voters and 1,230 are third gender (Hijra) voters.
