DHAKA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS)– Acting Chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman has extended support to the minor girl who was a victim of a heinous 'attempt to rape' incident in Shariatpur.

A delegation from the BNP's Health Support Cell for Oppressed Women and Children visited the victim’s home in Saikhya village under Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur today as per the instructions of Tarique Rahman.

During the visit, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, who is also the central coordinator of the Health Support Cell, spoke virtually with the child’s family.

He inquired about the overall situation and assured the family of continued support.

Financial assistance was handed over to the family on behalf of the BNP Acting Chairman and the delegation pledged to provide all necessary legal and healthcare assistance in the days ahead.

Earlier, on the night of October 4, a three-and-a-half-year-old child sustained serious injuries in an 'attempted rape incident' allegedly carried out by Miraj, son of Bachchu Mia of the same area.

The victim was later rescued and admitted to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for urgent treatment.

Members of BNP's Health Support Cell for Oppressed Women and Children provided medical assistance to the victim during her stay at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the accused Miraj has been arrested and handed over to law enforcement authorities.
