Man gets life-term for abducting, raping student in 2017

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted and sentenced one 
Anis Ahammed Nil to life-term imprisonment and fined him Taka one lakh in a 
case lodged over abduction and subsequent rape of ninth-grader in the city's 
Kamrangirchar area in 2017.

The court also sentenced Anis to 14-year rigorous imprisonment and fined him 
Taka 50,000 more on the charge of abducting the victim.

Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman of Dhaka Women and Children Repression 
Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the judgement in absence of the convict as 
he is still at large. The court also issued arrest warrant against him.

According to the case documents, the convict used to disturb the victim on 
her way to and from school in Azimpur area in the capital. On October 30, 
2017, as the victim was coming for attending coaching class in Azimpur, Anis 
abducted her from Kamrangirchar Borogram Chairman Bari area and took her to 
his den, where he raped her.

Victim's father filed a case with Kamrangirchar Police Station and police 
later rescued the girl from Dinajpur. Police on March 31, 2018, filed a 
charge-sheet under section 7/9 (1) of the Women and Children Repression 
Prevention Act-2000. 

A total of nine witnesses testified in the case on different hearing dates.
