Travel ban imposed on ex-member of Pirojpur Zila Parishad

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on former member of Pirojpur Zila Parishad Sheikh Abul Kalam Azad in the interest of an investigation into a corruption case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Foyez imposed the ban and ordered the attachment of a flat and a shop in Dhaka, and 37 decimals of land in Dhaka and Narayanganj owned by Azad.

Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Tanjil Ahmed disclosed the information to journalists.

He said the commission filed a case against Azad for acquiring and possessing illegal assets worth about Taka 86.68 lakh, which is beyond his known sources of income.

The case is now under investigation, and the commission, through reliable sources, learned that the accused might attempt to leave the country.

The commission also informed the court that a travel ban should be imposed on the accused and his illegal assets and properties should be attached for the sake of the investigation.
