BR task forces collect Tk 17.26 lakh in fines, fares

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Railway (BR) task forces have conducted raids on trains running on various route and collected Tk 17.26 lakh in fines and fares from passengers traveling without tickets.

A total of 23 task forces are trying to curb black marketing of tickets and enforce the policy that "a ticket belongs to the person who travels," according to a BR press release issued here today.

The press release said that during the raids, the task forces collected Tk 4.97 lakh in fines and Tk 12.29 lakh as actual ticket fares from passengers traveling without tickets or using tickets with other IDs from October 6 to October 12.

The task forces found that a total of 6,278 passengers were traveling without tickets, while 1,853 passengers were traveling using others’ IDs.

Of the 23 task forces, 13 deployed in the eastern zone while 10 in the western zone.
