Police return 108 missing phones, Tk 3.60 lakh to owners in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - Police today returned a total of 108 recovered mobile phones of different brands and Tk.3.60 lakh to their rightful owners, who lost money through mobile banking fraud, in the district.

The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of district police recovered the mobile phones, which had been lost, stolen or robbed at different times, along with Tk.3.60 lakh embezzled through mobile banking fraud.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Monirul Islam handed over the items to their owners at a function held at the police lines premises.

He said the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit recovered Tk 360,000, lost through mobile banking fraud and handed those over to 20 rightful owners.

According to police sources, around 225 general dairies (GDs) were filed with various police stations of the district from July to September. 

It said with the cooperation of the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit, 108 of the lost mobile phones were recovered and Tk.360,260 was recovered from fraud, who were engaged in bKash and Nagad fraudulence.

Police also provided information and counseling services to eight women who were harassed on social media and recovered 21 hacked Facebook/imo/WhatsApp accounts.

Additional SP Md Mukit Hossain Khan and other officials were also present at the time.
