HABIGANJ, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - Three children drowned in a pond at Chanpur Tea Garden of Chunarughat upazila of the district today.

The deceased children are Moskan Akhter, 13, daughter of Selim Mia of Ramganga area of the upazila, Shamima Akhter, 12, daughter of Sajid Ali and Sania Akhter, 9, daughter of Majid Ali of the same area.

They went to a relative’s weeding with their guardians at Chanpur Tea Garden. Today was the wedding day. When the wedding arrangements were going on, the children drowned when they went to the pond for taking bath at the pond. 

Later, locals took them to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctors declared them dead. 

Officer-in-Charge of Chunarughat Police Station Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter.
