DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) – A man arrested in a case filed over the murder of his wife and concealing her body in a refrigerator has given his confessional statement before a court here today.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadekur Rahman recorded the statement of Nazrul Islam, 52, under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure as he voluntarily admitted to committing the crime.

Police arrested Nazrul from the Nawabpur area under Bongshal Police Station last night and produced him before the court this afternoon.

According to the case documents, Nazrul had been torturing his wife Taslima Akter for dowry for years. The couple had frequent disputes over family matters for the past five to six years.

On October 13, their two daughters lodged a complaint with Kalabagan Police Station after their mother went missing and their father started behaving suspiciously. Acting on the complaint, police visited their flat around 8 pm and recovered Taslima’s body from inside a fridge. The body bore multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon.

Nazrul had already fled the scene but was later traced and arrested. Taslima’s brother subsequently filed a murder case with Kalabagan Police Station.
