NCP demands compensation for Mirpur fire victims

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) today demanded compensation for the families of the victims of the deadly fire at an illegal chemical warehouse and garment factory in Rupnagar, Mirpur, which claimed lives of 16 workers.

At a protest rally organized by the Mirpur Zone of the NCP's Dhaka North City unit, the party also demanded punishment for those responsible for the deadly fire and immediate removal of chemical warehouses from all residential areas of Dhaka North.

The rally was held this afternoon at Mirpur-10 intersection (Swadhinata Chattar), where NCP Senior Joint Convener and Head of the Political Liaison Committee Ariful Islam Adeeb placed the three-point demand on behalf of the party.

"Our demands are clear: those responsible for the fire, including the owners of the illegal chemical warehouse and garment factory, must be arrested and brought to justice. Each victim's family must be given compensation, and all chemical warehouses operating in residential areas must be removed immediately," Ariful said.

Conducted by NCP Central Organizer Monsur Abdullah, it was also attended by central members Imran Naeem and Zayed Bin Naser, Dhaka North unit member Sardar Aminul, Jatiya Shramik Shakti Central Organizer Mehedi Hasan, Shah Ali Thana Coordinator Shafiqul Islam Rana, Model Thana Joint Coordinator Russell Talukder, Fire Specialist Faisal Ahmed, Pallabi Thana representative Rehena Akter Ruma, Tanvir Ahmed, and Rupnagar Thana leader Tahmina Sharmin, among others.
