DHAKA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today said the fascist Awami League government adopted policies aimed at destroying the country’s education system to halt the progress of the nation.

"Over the past 15 years, the fascist Awami League government adopted a policy, thinking that if the country’s education system could be destroyed, the nation could be destroyed.

People wouldn't be able to speak maintaining logic and arguments, nor would they be able to distinguish between right and wrong. Consequently, people wouldn’t be able to protest the misdeeds of the fascists," he said.

Moyeen Khan made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion, organised by Nagarik Oikya at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU). Nagarik Oikya president Mahamudur Rahman Manna presided over the event.

“I don’t know how long it will take us to recover from the way the education system in Bangladesh has been destroyed over the last 15 years," said the senior BNP leader.

Urging the teachers of the country to get untied, he asserted, “No matter what the government does, if the teachers unite and take a solemn pledge to educate the young generations of the country, I believe they will succeed."

Dr. Moyeen Khan said America is the most powerful country in the world because it has the world's best universities, the best teachers and the best students.

“The education system has been destroyed in Bangladesh and the key used to destroy the education system was to eliminate the respect, honor and status of teachers and destroy students’ textbooks and courses.

It is a direct result of this that we are in this situation today," the BNP leader added.
