DHAKA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - A four-member expert team today visited the gutted chemical warehouse at Shialbari in the capital’s Mirpur.

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Senior GM Manjur Reza led the team.

Professor Zillur Rahman of Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience of Dhaka University and Syed Ahmed Kabir, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment, were among the expert team, said Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) media officer Talha bin Zasim.

The fire erupted in a garments factory and a chemical warehouse around 11:40am on Wednesday that left 16 people dead.

Their bodies were recovered from first and second floors of the garments factory and were sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The fire in the RMG factory was brought under complete control on Wednesday night while the blaze in the chemical warehouse was partially doused.

It will take more time to bring the fire in the chemical warehouse under complete control, fire service officials added.
