DMC conducts autopsies, collects DNA samples of all 16 fire victims

DHAKA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - The post-mortem of all the 16 people killed in a devastating fire at Shialbari, Mirpur in the capital, was completed today.

Sub Inspector of Rupnagar Police Station Mukhlesur Rahman Loskar confirmed media of the matter.

The autopsy of six victims was done on Wednesday while 10 others today, he said.

Of the deceased, six are women and 10 others are men, he said.

The Dhaka Medical College (DMC) forensic department teacher Ayesha Parvin collected DNS sample of 10 others in presence of forensic lab personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Earlier on Wednesday, the DMC collected DNA sample of six others.

The fire erupted in a garments factory and a chemical warehouse around 11:40am on Wednesday that left 16 people dead.

Their bodies were recovered from first and second floors of the garments factory on Tuesday and were sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The fire in the RMG factory was brought under complete control on Tuesday night while the blaze in the chemical warehouse was partially doused on Wednesday afternoon.

It will take more time to bring the fire in the chemical warehouse under complete control, fire service officials added.
