DHAKA, Oct 17, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent three people to jail in a case lodged over the sensational jewellery shop theft at Fortune Shopping Mall in Malibagh in the capital on October 8.

Three accused are Anita Roy, Md Nurul Islam, and Uttam Chandra Sur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced the three before the court and pleaded to place them on a three-day remand each. The court set October 19 for holding hearing on the remand plea.

Meanwhile, another accused Shahin Matabbar alias Shahin alias Shahid gave confessional statement in the case and the court recorded his statement under section 164.

Different teams of Detective Branch (DB) arrested the four from different parts of the country in last 72 hours and recovered around 190 bhori of gold ornaments and 93.5 grams of silver looted from the shop, one motorcycle and Taka 1, 77,000 in cash-proceeds from selling the looted gold, from their possessions.
