DHAKA, Oct 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) is going to host ‘Climate Week 2025’ from October 18 to 21 in the city, aiming to transform global and national climate ambitions into fair and inclusive action.
The event is being hosted by CPD in collaboration with the Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh and the World Bank.
Under the theme “Transforming Ambition into Action”, the four-day event will bring together policymakers, researchers, youth representatives, civil society members, and private sector leaders.
The programme will feature a series of conferences, dialogues, competitions, and exhibitions focusing on climate justice, financing, innovation, and resilience.
The week will begin with an international conference titled "A World Beyond Crisis: Climate Solutions That Work."
The first day will include an opening plenary on aligning national interests with global climate goals, followed by six thematic roundtables on topics such as operationalising climate commitments in vulnerable countries, integrating gender equity into policies, carbon markets, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable finance, and debt management amid climate change.
The second day will spotlight research and innovation from young scholars and early-career professionals from Bangladesh and abroad. Participants will present papers on adaptation, mitigation, resilience, green technology, AI for climate action, and disaster risk reduction. The best papers will be recognised and considered for publication.
Day three will focus on youth engagement through a series of policy workshops and dialogues. Young participants will discuss climate budgeting, fiscal frameworks, and adaptation planning tailored to different climatic zones. The sessions aim to strengthen youth leadership in shaping inclusive, accountable, and evidence-based climate policy.
The final day will feature a Climate Olympiad, a Policy Case Competition, and a Green Project Exhibition. Students and young innovators will present climate solutions and policy ideas, while green enterprises and organisations will showcase projects promoting sustainability, circular economy models, and community-based adaptation.
By combining high-level discussions, youth-led initiatives, and innovation showcases, CPD Climate Week 2025 aims to connect policy, research, and action. The event seeks to reinforce Bangladesh's leadership in climate resilience and inspire collective commitment towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
