
DHAKA, Nov 23, 2024 (BSS) - The British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (BBCCI) has recently hosted a high-level view-exchange meeting with
Chittagong City Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain at its London headquarters.
The session was presided over by BBCCI President Rafik M Haider, with
proceedings conducted by Director and Global Trade Strategist Misbah
Chowdhury. The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an by
Mawlana Wahid Siraji.
A welcome address was delivered by Senior Director Abul Kalam Azad, followed
by remarks from Former Mayor Jahangir Hussain, Vice President Abul Hayat
Nurujjaman, Political Analyst Dr Mujib M Rahman, President of the British
Bangladeshi Solicitors Association Abdul Gaffar, Ashikur Rahman, Finance
Director Helal Uddin Khan, Former President SB Faruk, and other community
leaders.
Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain outlined Chittagong's growing potential as a major
investment hub, underlining opportunities in the Economic Zone, information
technology, tourism, five-star hospitality, and green energy development. He
invited UK-based investors to explore long-term prospects in these sectors.
During the meeting, BBCCI expressed its intention to sign a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Chittagong City Corporation. Under the proposed
partnership, BBCCI will offer free training and professional certification
programmes to enhance youth skills and strengthen workforce capacity in
Chittagong.
The event concluded with a joint commitment to expanding bilateral
cooperation and promoting sustainable economic growth between the United
Kingdom and Bangladesh.
