DHAKA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that the party in principal agrees with the rightful demands of the teachers'.

In a statement, he said, "BNP, as a responsible political party of the country, and its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in principal agree with the teachers' rightful demands."

The statement also mentioned the assurance of reasonable financial benefits including job security, the highest social status for teachers, and state recognition of their contributions.

"We believe that no matter how many initiatives we take for the reform of the state and politics or for civil development, the desired results will never be achieved unless the modernization of education management and the socio-economic security and respect of teachers are ensured," said Fakhrul.

The statement also noted that BNP has no disagreement with positively considering increasing the financial safety net for teachers according to the state's capacity, job confirmation, and the gradual nationalization of all educational institutions if BNP gets the opportunity to run the state again through the people's mandate.

Mentioning that BNP will not show any leniency if anyone tries to create obstacles by exploiting the movement, it said, "BNP will not show any leniency in resisting any attempt of the collaborators of the deposed autocrat to create planned chaos by exploiting the teachers' justified movement in a bid to destabilize the country and obstruct the smooth democratic transition through the upcoming general election."
