DHAKA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jammat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep concern and shock over the tragic fire incident at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here.

Dr. Shafiq, in a statement today, said, "As the country's main international gateway, HSIA is not only a center for passenger movement but also a significant symbol of Bangladesh's image. Such a fire at this location has deeply alarmed the nation."

"After the recent fires in Dhaka's Mirpur and Chattogram's EPZ area, this incident at the airport raises serious concern whether it was a mere accident or an act of sabotage," he said, demanding a proper, impartial, and prompt investigation into the incident.

If negligence or foul play is found, those responsible must face exemplary punishment, he added.

The Jamaat Ameer urged authorities to strengthen safety and fire prevention measures at all vital installations across the country, including airports.

Dr. Safiqur also expressed solidarity with the anxious passengers and sympathy for the affected importers and businesses and conveyed special gratitude to firefighters and all emergency responders involved in extinguishing the blaze.
