Charge-sheet filed against Kamal Ahmed Majumder in arms case

DHAKA, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS) - Police have filed a charge-sheet against former State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder in an arms case.

Investigation officer (IO) and sub-inspector (SI)of Pallabi Police Station Hasanur Rahman filed the charge-sheet on September 30 and Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam forwarded the matter for further proceedings after receiving the charge-sheet on October 15.

According to a gazette notification issued on August 25, 2024, all firearm licenses issued for personal security between January 6, 2009, and August 5, 2024, were suspended. 

The notification directed that all firearms and ammunition under such suspended licenses be deposited at the respective police stations by 
September 3, 2024. It further stated that failure to deposit the firearms and ammunition within the stipulated time would result in those being treated as illegal weapons, and legal action would be taken under the Arms Act.

However, no information was found regarding whether the accused, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, had deposited his two firearms at the concerned police station or any other station, either personally or through any representative, within the stipulated time. He also did not inform the concerned police station in this regard.

SI Abu Sama of Pallabi Police Station filed the case against the former state minister under section 19 (1) of the Arms Act, on May 24, 2025.
