DB arrests 2 drug traders with 52-kg marijuana in city

DHAKA, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Detectives Branch of Dhaka 
Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested two alleged drug traffickers and 
seized 52 kilograms (Kgs) of marijuana along with a pickup van from the 
city's Tejgaon area. 

The arrested are Md Imran Khandaker, 29, and Md Akib Mia, 26, according to a 
press release issued by the DMP's media and public relations division here 
today.

On a tip-off, a DB team of Motijheel Division conducted a special operation 
to recover drugs in the capital on Saturday afternoon, it said.

During the drive, the suspects were found with the pickup van in front of Sky 
Restaurant in the Farmgate area, where they were preparing to sell the 
contraband drugs [Marijuana].
 
The DB team arrested the drug traffickers along with 52-kg of marijuana at 
around 5:10pm yesterday. 

They also seized a pickup van, used for transporting the drugs, from the 
scene, according to the release.

Legal action is underway against the arrested persons, it added.
