DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim and his successor Solaiman Salim on a four-day remand each in a case lodged over the killing of Jhut (garment-factory scrap) trader Md Monir during the July Mass Uprising last year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhad Ishtiaq passed the order after police produced the father-son duo before the court and sought a 10-day remand for each of them in the case.

Haji Mohammad Salim was detained from the capital's Bongshal area on September 1, 2024, while Solaiman Salim was arrested from Hazaribagh on November 13 the same year.

According to the case statement, Monir joined a mass uprising rally in the city's Chankharpul area on August 5, 2024. He was shot and died on the spot around noon that day.

Monir's widow, Rojina Akter, filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on March 14, 2025, against 351 named and around 500 unnamed accused.
