DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - The first namaz-e-janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) of Jagannath University student Md Jobaed Hasan was held in the university premises.

The janaza was held in front of the Science Faculty of the university after the Zuhr prayer.

Students, teachers and leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal participated in the janaza seeking the eternal peace of Jobaed.

Following the prayer, JnU vice-chancellor Prof. Rezaul Karim said, "My Student Jobaed was killed brutally. His departure in such a way is totally unexpected and we lost a treasure."

Seeking swift justice, he demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

JCD general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir said, "Jobaed was one of our bright stars. The JCD family is shocked at this murder. It was a planned murder and our DU fellow activist Shammo was murdered this way too."

We believe that the police will soon arrest the offenders, he added.

Md Jobaed Hasan was a student of Statistics department of Jagannath University under 2019-20 session and convening member of JnU unit JCD. He was murdered last afternoon at his tuition student's residential building at Nasir Box Lane near Mahuttuli here.
