CUMILLA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that the martyrs of the July Uprising in 2024 are also freedom fighters.
"Just as the freedom fighters were martyred in 1971, so too are the martyrs of the July uprising in 2024 of freedom fighters,” he said after paying wreaths to the grave of Shaheed Imam Hasan Tayim Bhuiyan, who was martyred in the July uprising of 2024, at Etbarpur in Chandina Upazila in the district.
Rizvi said, "The word ‘martyr’ is not just about the sacrifice of an individual's life. It’s about freeing a nation from the shackles of subjugation. Imam Hossain Tayim is one of those who gave their lives with the pledge of transforming a submissive state into an independent one," he added.
Addressing Tayim’s mother, the BNP leader said, “Tayim, in the July Uprising, joined the agitation without listening to his family. The son left home and never returned; but this mother, who has lost her son, is still living with this sorrow. Like Tayim, many youths are still ready for reestablishing democracy. If we never forget Tayim's sacrifice, that will be our highest tribute to him.”
Amra BNP Poribar stands by the family of Shaheed Tayim. Leaders of Amra BNP Poribar, a platform of BNP, after visiting the grave of martyr Tayim at the family graveyard of the Bhuiyan house in Etbarpur at 11am, met with his family in the village.
Amra BNP Poribar Convener Atikur Rahman Rumon handed over financial assistance to the martyr's family on behalf of the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and pledged their continuous support. Rumon also inquired about the relatives of martyr Tayim Bhuiyan and conveyed a message of sympathy from BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
