CHATTOGRAM, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) – Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation Dr. Shahadat Hossain said that citizens have the right to receive TCB products.

He made the remarks during the inauguration of the Smart Family (TCB) card distribution program by the Chattogram City Corporation in Ward No. 5, Mohra, today.

The mayor stressed the importance of making the assistance program more accessible and efficient, particularly for those in need. He called for the development of a transparent and sustainable system based on family cards to achieve this goal.

The City Corporation is working diligently to ensure that the food products provided through TCB with government subsidies reach the intended beneficiaries without any interference from middlemen or irregularities.

Dr. Shahadat emphasized the importance of creating an information-based database through the family card system, which will also benefit other social security programs in the future.

He highlighted the significance of implementing policies and programs that are friendly to the poor to establish a sustainable city.

“Currently, three and a half lakh smart family cards are being distributed in Chattogram city, allowing cardholders to purchase TCB products at half the market price. Each family is entitled to only one card to maintain transparency and fairness, and the cardholder must belong to the lower class, lower-middle class, or poor class,” he added.

City BNP convener Ershad Ullah presided over the program, with various tiers of BNP leaders and activists in attendance.
